Cathedral Prep Names Lynch New Boy's Basketball Head Coach

Cathedral Prep named former assistant coach Jeremy Lynch as the next boy's basketball head coach Tuesday.
"It means the world to me, and it wasn't just necessarily the title head coach, it was the place," said Lynch. "This place is family to me. The name across the chest on the jerseys here means the world to me, and that's really what this program and the history of this place means to me as well."
Lynch, a 2013 graduate of Cathedral Prep, played for the Ramblers varsity team during the 2011-2013. He was part of two teams that made state semifinal and quarterfinal appearances in back-to-back seasons. He went on to play college basketball at Edinboro.
Lynch began coaching as a student assistant for the Edinboro women's basketball program. Lynch served as an assistant for Cathedral Prep from 2018-2020. He then served as an assistant at Division II Chowan University. Last season, Lynch was the top assistant at Penn State-Behrend.
"The coaches that I was able to learn from quite literally shaped me into who I am today," said Lynch. "Coach [Stan] Swank, coach [Callie}Wheeler, gave me so much perspective on life. Coach [Rob] Burke taught me what energy really looks like. Coach [Dave] Niland is the most knowledgeable man I have ever been around and his passion for basketball is contagious and that is something I will never take for granted.
Lynch replaces Steve Piotrowicz, who took returned to IUP earlier this summer to serve as an assistant coach for the Crimson Hawks.
"We had a great response to this opening and a deep pool of talented applicants to choose from, said Cathedral Prep vice president of athletics, Bill Flanagan. "Through countless meetings and discussions, our group continued to come back to Jeremy. He is passionate about coaching young men, about imparting his knowledge and most importantly, he has a huge affinity for his alma mater."
