After losing a Fuller Hose company firefighter this summer, another tough blow for area first responders.  A retired Emergycare paramedic and Edinboro firefighter, Mary Wray, 73, died in a house fire Friday night.

Crews from Erie and Crawford County responded to the house fire in the 12000 of Silverthorn Road, near the I-79 exit about 7:30 p.m. Friday.

They found the victim inside the home.  Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook said Wray was pronounced dead at 8:46 p.m. Friday.  She suffered thermal injuries or burns, but Cook said he will wait for toxicology tests before ruling on the exact cause of death.

Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal Brad Barnhill was called to the scene to investigate.  He told Erie News Now he could not say yet what caused the fire, but he does not suspect foul play.

Sources tell us that a couple of dogs died in the fire as well.

Former colleagues at Emergycare posted a picture of Mary online and shared their condolences. They gave Erie News Now permission to share it as well  In the post they said Wray was one of the original employees of Emergycare in 1983, and touched thousands of lives throughout her career.
