As Prime Day takes off and online holiday shopping begins, local store's are preparing for holiday shopping too.

"We’re in our busy season. Right now, we're decorating the store for Christmas. We're getting ready for our big holiday open house, which is Nov. 3rd and 4th. It's one of our biggest events of the year, so the whole store has to be all done up for Christmas by then . . . decorating trees, unpacking, making sure we have enough of everything. So it's a lot of work, but it's worth it," owner of A La Carte, Eve Savelli-Watts said.

Even as some people turn to shop online, Savelli-Watts believes  regular customers will come by, especially for their big holiday open house.

“We have a lot of regulars. The store's been in business for 52 years, so people have kind of grown up with this store, and [the] open house is a big tradition for a lot of people,” Savelli-Watts said.

Savelli-Watts said shopping in person comes with many benefits, one of them being able to see more local businesses and products.

“That's something you just don't get with online shopping, plus the interaction with everyone that you meet and you know, we do beautiful gift wrapping here. . . Shopping in person. It's so much better I think," Savelli-Watts said.
