A Harborcreek High School student was honored with this month's C.L.A.S.S. Act Emerging Leader Award.

The award is given out to a nominated student in either Erie, Crawford, or Warren counties. 

This month's winner is a senior at Harborcreek High School in Erie County. Wendy Vight was nominated by two of her science teachers. 

The award is meant for students who showcase school and community leadership. The award is given out by the IU5 and sponsored by several local businesses, including Erie News Now, Velocity Net, the Erie County Community College and Bethesda Luthern Services.

Wendy, who is a gymnast and pole vaulter, suffered at setback last year when she injured her knee. Her teachers say her positivity was impressive.

Wendy was also awarded with a $1,000 scholarship.

A big congratulations to Wendy and all the others nominated for the Emerging Leader C.L.A.S.S. Act Award for October.
