The coroner has released the name of the man who was killed in a crash in the City of Erie on Friday.

It was reported around 3:38 p.m. at E. 36th and Pine Ave.

A SUV was heading eastbound on E. 36th St., and a motorcycle was traveling northbound on Pine Ave. when both vehicles collided, according to Erie Police chief Dan Spizarny.

The man on the motorcycle - identified as Robert Peterson, 26, of Waterford - was killed instantly, according to Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook.

His death was ruled as accidental due to multiple blunt force trauma, Cook said.

The driver of the SUV was taken away in an ambulance to be evaluated.

This is Erie County's 12th motorcycle death of 2023, which Cook said is "up considerably" compared to previous years.
