A Warren County non-profit organization is making a big difference in the lives of veterans.

The Allegheny Valley Veteran Center, located in Clarendon, PA opened its doors three years ago to veterans in need. After a tremendous amount of volunteer hours and effort, the program now proudly boasts 32 available rooms for homeless and struggling veterans.

The Allegheny Valley Veteran Center is currently funded via private donations. Thanks to the generosity of the community and local businesses, the center has also been able to provide clothing and essential resources to veterans facing hardships.

“We have a V.S.O. here on staff, a Veterans Service Officer," stated Michael Mclachlan, Allegheny Valley Veterans Center Administrator. "She helps them with disability benefits, getting them vouchers for housing, medical assistance and so forth, like that.”

“We hope to keep progressing and helping veterans any way we can, said Thomas Eaton, President of the Allegheny Valley Veterans Center. "From bringing them off the streets, to if they have an issue. Let’s get the issue straight and get them back into productive use, back into society.”

The center will be hosting a chili cook-off on Monday, November 27th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the American Veterans Post 50 in Sugar Grove, PA.
All proceeds from the event will go towards the Veteran Center's ongoing mission.
