Local Woman Donates Over 200 Gifts to Toys for Tots
Hundreds of children will be opening gifts on Christmas morning thanks to the generosity of a local woman.
It took multiple trips to fill an entire truck full of gifts for children in need, that started with a mission a year ago.
"I started last December, like the second week in December, and I just finished maybe two weeks ago. I think about the last two, maybe two weeks ago", explained Hortsman.
After missing a Toys for Tots event last year, Suzanne Hortsman want to do her part to help bring some Christmas magic to children, so she started buying gifts to donate to Toys for Tots.
"It's heartfelt but I had a blast. Every toy I showed my friends, every toy I brought in the house, I showed my I showed my friends. I had a blast. I enjoyed doing it", said Hortsman.
After a year of browsing, buying and organizing, Horstman ended up with 251 toys ready to be wrapped and gifted. Although, a big project, she encourages others to do their part to give back in anyway they can this holiday season
As Hortsman explained, "It's a good feeling. Just help somebody. It just takes one person to help somebody, whether it's making them a dinner or a lunch or something. But let's give them toys."
Although Horstman won't be there on Christmas morning to see the children open their gifts, she just hopes they are happy, "I hope that they love it. I hope they love it."
The Toys for Tots Distribution Day for this year is set for December 2, 3, 9.
