Turkeys, canned goods and packing it all up for those in need -- it’s the Erie News Now drive with the Second Harvest Food Bank of North Western PA. The Erie News Now food drive had over nine locations including Meadville at the Downtown Mall. The Allegheny football team was one of the athletic groups that showed up to help support the community.

“It's awesome because we're in a position to give. Granted, I mean, a lot of us travel from far away. Meadville isn't necessarily home to us, but it is home away from home, and it's just awesome because there's a ton of people that shouldn't be out there on the holidays, away from family, or not being able to get the food that they deserve. So, I think it's awesome just having a cause like this” Hunter Palmisano, an offensive line for the Allegheny Gators football team, said.

Head Coach Braden Layer said participating and helping out for the cause, helps the team out too.

“They get something out of it where they feel that reward, they feel like they've made a difference for those that in turn may come out and support them on Saturdays, too. So it's a way in which we can grow together with, you know, Crawford County and our surrounding area,” Layer said.

In Warren, donations came in throughout the day from those driving by to others stopping by to drop off a few cans. Jim Decker, the President of the Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry said Warren has always been a place full of generosity.

"Warren is a very giving community across the board. So, yeah, we need to make sure that nobody's hungry, but I'm sure there's folks that are and it's unfortunate. So we try to do whatever we can to make sure that we get to as many people as we can, and thank goodness there's a lot of people that are focused on that and doing great work every day to try to keep everybody happy and healthy," Decker said.
