An annual tradition took place in downtown Erie on Monday morning to help those in need prepare a wonderful Thanksgiving meal.

The Erie City Mission held its annual Turkey Bag Distribution. It started at 8 a.m., but the line was well underway by 6:30 a.m.

Free hot drinks and breakfast sandwiches were provided to those in line to help them stay warm and comfortable while they waited.

Over 1,000 turkey bags were handed out Monday morning.
