Millcreek Township will be recommending the hiring of a new Animal Resource Officer (ARO) during the Township's December 19 meeting.

Millcreek Township posted about the open ARO position back in October 2023 and said they received significant interest.

After conducting extensive interviews, the ARO is set to accept an employment offer from the Township.

According to the Township, the selected ARO that the employment offer was extended to comes with 20 years of uninterrupted animal handling experience. Additionally, they were previously employed as a humane police officer for multiple Humane Societies.

The ARO position was moved to the Code Enforcement Department from the Police Department in 2023.

Millcreek Township said more information on the new ARO and the position will be available closer to the start date in 2024 pending board approval.
