Domino's Pizza donated $25,000 to the City of Erie through its Plowing for Pizza program. The money will go towards winter maintenance in exchange for participating in Domino's advertising campaign.

The City of Erie said Erie's Public Works Department worked with Domino's ad agency to finalize the donation.

“We are extremely thankful to Domino’s for selecting Erie for the Plowing for Pizza program. As most everyone knows, Erie usually gets over 100 inches of snow each season which requires us to spend money on salt, plowing, and snow removal to keep our city streets safe for residents, employees, and travelers," said Erie Mayor Joe Schember. "Our highly skilled Public Works Department and Streets Crew do an amazing job during the winter, and this generous donation will certainly help us continue to keep our roads as clear and safe as possible.”

The money will be used to purchase approximately 462 tons of Sodium Chloride (salt) for its 329 miles of linear road. That amount of roadway equals 600 miles of road maintained daily.

City of Erie officials said the city budgets 7,500 tons of salt for its 35 plow trucks which is projected to cost $405,600 in the 2023/2024 season.

The City of Erie wants to remind residents of Winter Parking Regulations in Erie which are in effect from Nov. 1 to March 31, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., weekdays only.
