A truck crashed into a veterans memorial in Titusville that has been up since 2004.

"I was coming to town about 11:30 a.m. and my sister called me and said you better get down to the monument somebody crashed into it and my stomach was sick before I even got here," said Charlie Castellucio, Navy Vietnam Veteran Brown Water Sailor.

He said the memorial is the pride of Titusville.

"When we have our Memorial Day service, the vets come down and they place a wreath here, when we have the Oil Festival people gather here, this is the one of the spots in Titusville where if you say I will meet you at the memorial, they will come here," Castellucio said.

CECIL DENNIS, ARMY VIETNAM VETERAN AND PAST POST COMMANDER OF VFW 5958 BRUCE SHORTS POST, WAS POST COMMANDER IN 2004 WHEN THE MEMORIAL WENT UP, AN EVENT HE REMEMBERS VIVIDLY.

"We were having a memorial that night to dedicate it and an eagle came flying down the creek, circled around and was gone and I said well the old boys approve of it," Dennis said.

Dennis even helped with laying blocks for the memorial because he felt it was important for him to show how much he appreciates his fellow Vietnam veterans.

"Some of us when we come home from Vietnam we were spit on and everything else but we survived and we got over a lot of that even though there are still a lot of memories that you will never get rid of but this was something that was very important at the time that we were doing it," Dennis said.

The memorial intentionally does not show names of veterans because as Castellucio explained the memorial is for all veterans.

"We are not picking and choosing what war or what branch of service you were in, if you are a veteran in Titusville this wall is to honor you, past and present," Castellucio said.
