Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority (EMTA) is working with police as they investigate an incident that happened on the bus ride home from school.

Officers were called to the intersection of Cherry and Peach St. for a teen allegedly stabbed just after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say the victim is okay and did not sustain any life-threatening injuries from the incident.

Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority released a statement Wednesday night stating: "We are fully cooperating with local law enforcement and would like to thank them for their swift response. The Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority follows all state and local rules and regulations to ensure its riders have safe and efficient transportation services in Erie County. We continue to diligently coordinate with the Erie School District on the safety and well-being of their students and staff."

Erie's Public Schools released the following statement Thursday morning stating: “We are cooperating with the Erie Police Department on their investigation, and continue to work with the EMTA to ensure our students are safely transported between home and school. In the meantime, our counselors and other staff members are on hand to provide support and resources for students in the days ahead. Safety continues to be our top priority. To that end, in recent years we have implemented a number of important safety measures district wide that we continually evaluate and adjust as needed.”
