A benefit at Corry High School gave parents and students a chance to donate to the Trooper Jacques "Jay" Rougeau Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Nicole Lambert helped organize the benefit and explained how the scholarship began.

"His classmates, he was a graduate of 2012 and he was the class president so his friends established that scholarship with the Corry Community Foundation," Lambert said.

T-shirts and bracelets ensuring Rougeau is never forgotten were available for sale.

Among the many attendees was a man who knew Rougeau well, coaching him throughout his high school basketball career.

"It was a privilege, great kid, hard worker, always in the gym, was a great role model for the younger players and was just the kind of kid you want your son to grow up to be like," Chad Sutton, Rougeau's high school basketball coach, said.

Basketball was a sport Rougeau loved to play so much he was at the school even in the summertime attending open sessions in the gym.

"The only week that he would miss was the week that he would go to Meadville for the police academy and Camp Cadet," Sutton said.

On the very same court that Rougeau played, his family was given pieces of art of the badge he wore for the country he served proudly.

Rougeau was a role model throughout his entire life and number four will never be forgotten.

"He loved coming in and working with the younger kids, his personality was contagious, definitely the kind of person you always want to be around and that smile, that million dollar smile," Sutton said.
