For the last decade, Brad Orlando has led the McDowell football program as the head coach.  The longtime leader of the Trojans submitted his resignation on Monday.

“I want to thank Bo for the leadership he has shown in every aspect of being a head coach. He has worked tirelessly to make this program the best it can be," said McDowell athletic director Mark Becker. "He does so many little things that no one ever sees. I greatly appreciate everything he has done for the Trojans.”

Orlando led McDowell to a District 10 title in nine of his ten seasons as head coach. During his decade leading the program, Orlando amassed a 81-37 record. Orlando spent 16 of his 25 seasons as a coach within the McDowell program. He served as the Walnut Creek head coach in 2002. He also spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Cathedral Prep.

Orlando has helped a number of players set program records. The top five passers in a season in terms of yards, attempts and completions in McDowell history all played under Orlando. The top four single-season touchdown marks were also under the guidance of Orlando.

Orlando had two players selected to the All-American Bowl; Kyle Mitchum in 2003 and Cooper Cousins in 2023. There were also several players who were named All-State and All-Region players during the decade-long run as head coach.

Orlando was a 1996 graduate of McDowell. He spent his first three years of high school at Strong Vincent. Orlando went on to play football and baseball at Penn State University. He played as a linebacker and pitcher for the Nittany Lions.
