Penelec Scrambles to Restore Power in High Winds
Penelec crews are still working to restore power for the thousands of customers left in the dark this morning.
From downed trees to damaged power lines, the massive cleanup after Tuesday's windstorm continues. Penelec crews are still attempting to restore power for thousands of people throughout the region.
Penelec spokesman Will Boye tells us the restoration process has been a massive effort over the past several days. On Tuesday, Penelec brought in over 60 contractors to help remove trees off downed power lines. They've continued to bring in more manpower each day.
Boye tells us the high winds have posed a major challenge to the crews out in the field.
"If the wind gusts get over 40mph, we cannot operate our bucket trucks safely," said Boye.
