A pilot and pig are recovering after a plane crash in Venango County on Monday. A pig was traveling in small plane which crashed at the Venango Regional Airport.

Albert "Chip" Abramovic, one of the Venango County Commissioners was one of the first on the scene and said, "So when I got up here and went out on the tarmac and I realized pigs do fly in Venango county and this is probably one of the few pigs that survived a plane crash as severe as this one was. But we were very thankful that Precious Paws was able to take the pig in and get it safe and healthy and the pilot that was also safe as well."

The pilot is recovering in the hospital and the pig is being taken care of at the Precious Paws Animal Rescue in Franklin. Since the accident, Pig was checked out by the vet on staff and minus a few cuts, staff said he is doing well. He is currently on anti-inflammatory medicine. The vet, Dr. Rainy Waitz said, "But as far as medically, she is good to go. As long as the medication continues to be administered and monitored pig is ready for discharge."

According to staff, Pig has been adjusting and recovering well. Theresa Weldon, the President of Precious Paws Animal Rescue said, "Pig is leash trained, but pigs are pretty smart animals and they need to develop trust. So we have been feeding him with blueberries and carrots, trying to bribe him a little bit. But he does know how to sit, he spins around. He seems to be doing okay. We have talked to the owner and as soon as she is able to, we look forward to bringing pig back to her."

The FAA was at the scene on Tuesday and are currently working on a report about what happened.
