A major fire broke out in downtown Youngsville in Warren County on Sunday, causing smoke to fill the night sky.

It was reported in the 100 block of E. Main St. just after 8 p.m.

The fire tore through a building containing Lonnie's Pizza Shop and two apartments upstairs.

Residents living in apartments in a second building next door had to be evacuated while firefighters tackled the flames. Those residents were able to return home Sunday night.

Sources say no one was working in Lonnie's when the fire started. The fire was contained to that building, and residents living in two of the apartments have been displaced.

More than a dozen fire trucks were on the scene including three ladder trucks pouring water over the fire. Firefighters have come from as far as Spring Creek and Tidioute to assist in the firefight.

There is no word yet on what sparked the fire.

The 200-year-old building is a total loss and is being torn down. Half of it has already been demolished.
