It's tax season. From finding paper-work to finding the time to do it, filing your returns can be stressful. Communications Director of the PA Department of Revenue Jeffrey Johnson said one free filing system is intended to be user-friendly.

“We want to make sure that we help our customers, as much as we can. MyPath is all about that. It's a very simple online system that guides you through the process step-by-step of filing your personal income tax return. You just need to make sure you have all your documents in hand before you get started, and an easy way to save yourself a few dollars this tax season,” Johnson said.

For those debating between using an online system or filing on paper, Johnson said filing electronically is fastest.

"Not only is that the fastest way to get your return in and processed, and get your refund if you're expecting one, but that's just the quickest way to go about things these days. Majority of our customers take advantage of online options, and that’s great to hear,” Johnson said.

Johnson said one other thing to make note of this tax season is the increase in tax credit for childcare.

“The expanded child and dependent care enhancement tax credit. That’s something that’s available for people who have child care expenses, and maybe a dependent. We want to make people aware of that, especially with child care costs nowadays. That’s something you want to make sure you take advantage when you file your return this year,” Johnson said.
