Stefanelli's Ramps Up Production Ahead of Valentine's Day
What do you think of when someone says Valentine's Day? Is it the romance? The red hearts? The perfect gift for someone special?
Well at Stefanelli's Candies, they think of one thing - chocolate.
In recent days, the historic Erie candy store says they've seen a massive boost in sales.
"Valentine's Day is very busy," said Wholesale Candy Sales Manager, Chris Andrews. "Obviously strawberries are the hot item every year for Valentine's Day. Sponge candy also, because it is made pretty much solely in Pennsylvania and Erie and we send it out everywhere."
"It's the precursor to tomorrow when it's going to be a line out the door pretty much all day," added Andrews.
So why is it so important not just to Stefanelli's that people shop local?
"They don't have to get on the Internet and place an order, they can come [in]," said manager Stacy Kessler.
And [for] a lot of these people it's memories. It brings back [memories of] baskets that they got when they were kids, or strawberries or whatever it may be, so it's home. It's more than just the chocolate it's the memories that our candy brings for people that have bought Stefanelli's candies for generations."
Stefanelli's will be open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
