The Erie KOA Holiday Campgrounds plan to open early this season for the total solar eclipse taking place on Monday, April 8.

The campground is located near the shores of Lake Erie and Presque Isle, making it a great location to experience the path of totality during the upcoming Eclipse.

The Erie KOA Holiday Campgrounds, along with the rest of Erie, will experience nearly three minutes of darkness when the moon crosses the sun's path. Totality begins approximately at 3:16 p.m.

“We’re in an ideal place for guests to experience totality in a natural setting,” said Jamie, owner of the Erie KOA Holiday. “This is one of those events we knew was worth opening the campground early. While some of our services will be limited because of the time of year, we have a few special things planned, like a DJ, to make the eclipse even more memorable.”

According to Kampgrounds of America, 7 in 10 campers who plan to view the eclipse will do so while camping.

The Eire KOA Holiday is located at 6645 West Road in McKean. Those interested in making a reservation can do so online
