United Way's "Community Schools" Program to Hold Volunteer Clearance Clinic on February 29th

United Way's "Community Schools" program, which places volunteers in several of Erie's Public Schools, will hold a free volunteer clearance clinic on Thursday, February 29th, at East Middle School to ensure those working in schools are permitted to be near children.
The program helps provide elementary and middle school children with all the resources they need outside the classroom, such as clothing, personal hygiene items, and even food.
"This coming Friday, there is a volunteer clinic that will help, because you need clearances to come into the schools," said Charlotte Berringer, a volunteer with Community Schools. "So that clinic will actually help the volunteers get the clearances and anything else that is required for them to come into the buildings so that they are able to volunteer."
