Emma's Footprints Hosts Farewell Winter Gala
The organization, Emma's Footprints, hosted their Farewell Winter Gala on Saturday night at the Ambassador.
They say they are here for help, hope and healing after pregnancy and infant loss and in fact, the name comes from Co-Founder Tracy Dailey, who lost her daughter, Emma.
"She will be 17 this year and I did not have that opportunity after she died to have a safe place or community so we provide that for these families," Dailey said.
Loss mother, Amanda Berk is the Director of Bereavement for Emma's Footprints and everyday takes devastating calls, texts and emails.
"It is really hard because every story is heartbreaking that these families have had to go through and what I had to go through years ago so I know what that pain looks like," Berk said.
"They have been supportive in helping us meet other people who are in a similar situation, therapy and really just the community that they have created has made our experience all the better and we are just super grateful," said loss parents Cody and Emily Biddle, who were helped by Emma's Footprints.
Meghan Slater is a loss mother, Bereavement Coordinator for Emma's Footprints and a labor and delivery nurse at UPMC Hamot, meaning she is right there for what can be devastating news.
"It never gets easier just like it never gets easier for the mom, everyday they get a little bit stronger but no day is easier after you have lost your baby, we just try to go in that room and support that mom as best as we can," Slater said.
