The Millfair Compost Center will open for the 2024 season on Monday, March 11.

The center will open at 9 a.m. The Millfair Compost Center is a joint operation between Millcreek and Fairview Township and is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

“Millfair has grown so much since its opening 20 years ago,” said Millcreek Township Community Relations and Sustainability Director Jessica Stutzman, “so much of that is due to the hard work and dedication of the passionate crew at Millfair.”

The compost center accepts brush, tree trimmings, leaves and non-food garden residue from Millcreek, Fairview and West County residents at no charge.

The facility takes the items and turns them into mulch and compost for gardens and landscaped areas.

All residents and business of Erie County are permitted to purchase Millfair products. However, business must obtain a $20 permit and pay per drop off.

Last year, the Millfair Compost Center distributed 6,641 cubic yards of material back into the community after taking in 23,456 cubic yards of material.

The compost center is located at 2301 Millfair Rd. and is open seven days a week.
