Two local school students are taking on the role of the Easter Bunny to help local families have a happy holiday.

Allison Kennerknecht, a Junior at Seneca High School, knows what it's like to need help from the community. As a young child, her family lost everything in a house fire.

"The community actually put on a benefit for us," said Kennerknecht. "Everyone came and brought us food, clothes, toys, it was amazing."

Kennerknecht and her friend Taylor Bunce are doing their part to give back to the community that helped them. The girls are accepting donations to put together Easter baskets for the St. Boniface Food Pantry. They hope to share the joy and excitement that they remember feeling on Easter morning.

"I loved it. I liked the Easter egg hunts. You opened up all the little eggs and get mystery surprises. We want other kids to experience that," said Bunce.

Donations of plastic eggs, candy, toys, baskets or any other Easter related gifts can be dropped off at the donation bins at St. Boniface Church.
