The Erie Sports Commission will be accepting application for its Family Matching Funds program until Sunday, March 31. 

The program was created to attract new events that will drive new out-of-town tournaments or grow existing events and visitors to our region. 

The Facility Matching Funds Program offers $60,000 in matching funds available to assist local sports facilities with renovations, equipment upgrades or new construction. 

Applicants can request matching funds up to $15,000. Requests higher than $15,000 will be considered in rare circumstances.

Additionally, applicants must be located within Erie County, PA and have facilities available to host tournaments and events that generate tourism. 

In 2023, the program awarded seven dollar for dollar matching grants totaling $60,000. The program itself has awarded a total of $105,700 since its inception in 2018. 

Past recipients include: Ascend Climbing, Erie Sports Center, LECOM Sports Park, Around the Post, Erie Gymnastics Center, Millcreek Youth Athletic Association and Lake Erie Speedway.
