Breweries and Wineries Prep for Eclipse Weekend

The total solar eclipse is getting closer, and that means a lot of people will soon be making their way to the Erie area. Places in the food and beverage industry like Voodoo Brewery are preparing for a big increase in business.
“I mean it's gonna be fantastic having that large crowd here. We're definitely excited to have everybody here. We're making sure that we're staffed up for the weekend. That's gonna be the biggest part making sure that we're prepared as far as being able to serve everybody quickly and efficiently" general manager at Voodoo Brewery Kyle Houser said.
The Lake Erie Wine Country Trail has a wine tour event called “lights out”. It will be taking people to wineries for food and wine pairings the weekend of the eclipse. When it’s the day of, people go to their host wineries. One of them is 21 Brix Winery.
"We have a pretty large event going on we're gonna have TVM playing live music from one to 4 PM. We're gonna have food pairings and options. We have our own kitchen, but then we also have Duper catering that's gonna be there . . .so there has been a lot of labor on the back-end that might not necessarily be seen right at the front of the eclipse day but it’s been important nonetheless,” staff trainer for 21 Brix Winery Jaret Kelly said.
Kelly said in the days ahead they'll be trying to share awareness of the expected traffic to their guests.
“The biggest thing I would say to folks that want to come out, just try to get there early we are expecting that traffic is going to be a bear . . . so be willing to spend some time, give yourself enough leeway as you’re trying to get to the location whether you’re going to our event or any other event. We just think that that’s really important. We want to make sure that everybody can see it. Everybody has enough time to hang out and relax, and just enjoy the day,” Kelly said.
