The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service is hosting its annual Garlic Mustard Pull in the Allegheny National Forest on Thursday, April 25.

The event will from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Buckaloons Recreation Area.

Forest staff will be removing garlic mustard, an invasive plant, from the recreation area. The event is open to the public.

Following the plant pulling, a potluck-style lunch will be held.

Staff recommends that volunteers wear gloves, insect repellent, and weather appropriate clothing. Volunteers can check-in at the boat launch beginning at 8:30 a.m.

“There has been a significant reduction in the amount of garlic mustard and other non-native plants through volunteer efforts at Buckaloons. This area is home to some of Allegheny National Forest’s rarest plants,” said Non-Native Invasive Program Manager, April Moore.
