At the Children's Experience Museum, it was an evening of applications and interviews for their job fair. One applicant, Maxwell McFarlend, was looking for his first summer job. He said he’s prepared to start working.

"I was looking for a job that wasn’t boring, or doing the same thing everyday. I wanted a new experience, and I enjoy spending time with kids and working with them. I'm excited to start a new job, and a new experience in my life, and to get paid obviously. I’m feeling ready."

Director of Marketing and Community Relations Olivia Wickline said the museum see's younger people come onto the team, and they enjoy helping them grow.

“This job has a lot of first timers. We really are proud of growing our work force and having high schoolers that we see all the way through high school. In fact, one of the leadership team, she started when she was a baby. She was about 16 when she started, and now she's working in the office as part of the museum. So we love when high schoolers come in and we can help grow and build them into a great workforce,” Wickline said.

Wickline said this is one of two job fairs, and as the building's expanding, they're in need of more workers.

"With a growing building, it means a growing team. So today, we’re going to have people on board as museum floor staff, as museum managers and even some education positions. We have a lot of summer camps. We have about doubled our summer camps. So we need extra staff for all the fun things happening this year," Wickline said.
