I still have a little ways to go before I hit my 80s. I sometimes wonder what my life would be like at that age. I'm not going to worry because I have a new role model who is truly inspiring.

It’s Faye Jarmolowicz, age 85, from Millcreek.   She is preparing to skydive out of an airplane.  It will be a tandem jump with a professional instructor from Skydive Pennsylvania at the Grove City Airport. Skydiving is one of the items on Faye's bucket list.  She doesn't care if she is 85-years old. She is going to jump from that plane.

"Age is a number,” she says.  “If you wake up and you say, 'Oh my God, I'm 70 and I can't do anything', then you won't be able to.  But if you wake up in the morning and say, 'I can do that.' You'll do it.”

Faye's granddaughter, Mariah Landowski, will also jump for the first time. It was Faye who talked Mariah into it, not the other way around.

"She's the most resilient person I've ever met,” says Mariah.  “Never stops. That's why she's "Crazy Grandma Faye".  She'll always be that to many people.  Not just us."

The day has finally arrived for Faye’s skydive. It's time for Faye to walk to the plane with her instructor John Ellison. He's a veteran of over 11,000 jumps.

"We're going to do it,” Faye says to John.  “This is my bucket list."

The plane is in the air.  It looks like Faye is actually going to do this.

"Are we ready to have a good time?, John asks Faye. “We are ready,” answers Faye.  We are ready.  Totally ready."

Faye and John are in position at the door of the plane. Geronimo!!!!  Off they go!!!  It's time for Faye to enjoy the rush of freefalling from 11,500 feet in the air. The parachute soon opens and Faye enjoys the Pennsylvania countryside more quietly and slowly from high above.

"Oh my God.  This is crazy,” yells Faye.

Now the moment of truth.  Will this 85-year old have a smooth and soft landing?   No problem.  Faye gives John a high-five and walks over to a crowd of friends and relatives who can’t wait to congratulate her on her bucket list accomplishment.

“You can’t describe the feeling,” she tells them.  “You have to experience it.  You have to.”

So, what's next for Faye and her bucket list?  Faye says she wants to run a half marathon for her 90th birthday.  For information on how you can take a skydiving adventure like Faye did, contact Skydive Pennsylvania at skydivepa.com.
