In Mayville New York, the County Executive recently hosted a State of the County Address, focusing on positive changes happening throughout the area.

Chautauqua County has been working on their infrastructure, expanding broadband services along with sewage and water.

“We’ve had some opportunities to expand water services in different areas in the county there’s still more to come, a couple of other municipalities have reached out to the Jamestown BPU (Board of Public Utilities),” stated PJ Wendell, Chautauqua County Executive.

Mr. Wendell also spoke on their investment efforts and how they were able to save money for taxpayers.

“We took our ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funding and brought it into a municipal trust, and we were able to yield another million dollars of revenue for Chautauqua County taxpayers," stated Wendell. "Because of that, $800,000.00 was used in our current 2024 budget to help offset costs.”

In short there are many positive changes planned for the county.

“There’s a lot of great opportunities," Wendell said. "This is our little corner of the world and there’s a lot of great things to offer people.”
