Gas prices in western Pennsylvania fell by one cent over the past week to $3.835 per gallon, according to AAA on Monday.

Last week's average price was $3.845, and the price per gallon of gas at this time last year was $3.778.

The national average for a gallon of gas has remained steady over the past week at $3.65. Lackluster domestic demand and lower oil prices have helped stabilize prices. Today’s national average is six cents more than a month ago and 11 cents more than a year ago.

Prices dipped as crude oil inventories increased by 7.3 million barrels from the previous week. U.S. crude oil inventories are about 3 percent below the five-year average for this time of year.
