Second Victim Dies after East Erie Crash Involving Speeding Motorcyclist
A second man died following a crash involving a speeding motorcyclist in the City of Erie on Tuesday.
It was reported just after 6:30 p.m. on E. 38th St. near Tops Market.
Police said a motorcycle was headed east at a high speed when it slammed into an SUV trying to turn onto 38th Street from Marion St.
The motorcyclist - identified as Jose Fuentes, 32, of Erie - was killed in the crash. He died of blunt force trauma and was wearing a helmet, according to the coroner.
The impact caused the motorcycle to break and ejected Fuentes, who landed in the front seat of the vehicle he hit with a father and son inside, the coroner said.
Both were taken to UPMC Hamot, and the grandfather - a 46-year-old Erie man - died from internal injuries overnight, according to the coroner.
Witnesses told police the motorcycle was going anywhere from 80 to 100 miles per hour at the time of impact.
