This is six-year-old Jonah Allgeier's first time home in 164 days since he went into cardiac arrest. This Easter Sunday he got a heart transplant.

On Tuesday, with an entourage of fire trucks and state police Jonah arrived in a limousine to family and friends ready to welcome him home.

"It's just amazing how much the Erie community has embraced our family. We feel that through their prayers, their support and their giving. It's just been an amazing, amazing time,” Jonah's grandfather Mark Fuhrman said

Fuhrman said since Jonah’s transplant, it hasn't been all smooth sailing, but he's doing well.

"His recovery is off the charts. I mean the doctors are just shocked by how well he's rebounded. I asked Jonah ‘What’s the first thing you want to do when you come home?’ You know what his answer is? ‘I want to run’," Fuhrman said.

Jonah ran, played frisbee, and hugged his friends and family.

“That’s all he wants to do is play, run, and be in our backyard. Just enjoy life, which is exactly what he should be doing, and that was the goal — to get him to this point and we’re here. It’s incredible,” Jonah’s Mom Lindsey Allgeier said.

Jonah's mom, Lindsey Allgeier, went through the same thing, over 20 years ago. To understand the process was a comfort as a parent.

“I already had such an understanding of everything. That was huge, because typically when you into something like this you don’t have that as a parent,” Allgeier said.

Now, their family gets to adjust to being home.

“To just be back and kind of start slowly re-acclimating into everything, and re-bonding as a family —  it's definitely going to take some time, but I don't think we're going to have a hard time jumping into it,” Allgeier said.
