Today, Pennsylvania's Fraternal Order of Police hosted a memorial service in Harrisburg, honoring the lives of all police officers in the state who gave their lives in the line of duty this past year.

Dozens gathered in the main rotunda of the capitol for the service. 6 men were honored, including state trooper Jay Jacques Rougeau.

The Corry native was killed in the line of duty while responding to an attack on his station building last summer.

Medals were handed out to families through the ceremony.

The organization hopes to impress on families that though ceremonies only last for an evening or two, the legacy of their loved ones is permanent in the law enforcement community.
