The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is preparing to begin a $400,000 project to rehabilitate the bridge that carries Hunter Road over Hunter Run in Crawford County.

The project will include partial removal and replacement of the existing structure, including the deck, beams, and barriers. It will also include minor roadway work near the bridge and paving along the stream bed to prevent erosion.

PennDOT said crews at their facility in Crawford County fabricated new beams for the bridge during the winter months.

Work is expected to begin on May 28 and will be completed in October 2024.

According to PennDOT, the project will require a detour. The detour will be posted using Shaffer Road, West Oil Creek Road, and Pettis Road. The detour is expected to be in place for three and a half months.
