Wearing sunscreen is one of the most recommended ways of preventing sunburn, but in order to get the proper protection, it needs to be applied correctly.

"Most people under apply. So, you need to make sure that you use enough of it, use 30 minutes before going out, especially if you are in a situation where you are perspiring or in water," said UPMC Plastic Surgeon Dr. Jay Kang.

Which sunscreen works best? Dr. Kang recommends using a sunscreen that's at least SPF 30. He also says to use the lotions instead of spray sunscreen.
