Over 100 visitors and residents gathered in downtown Warren this weekend to celebrate the Four Flags Ceremony at Heritage Point Crescent Park.

The celebration, highlighting the deep history of the area, has been taking place for over 50 years.

Members of the Warren Area High School Marching Band played various anthems as Boy Scouts of the Chief Cornplanter Council Troop 13, raised the flags over the Allegheny River.

"I think it’s just a fantastic way for our community to come together," stated David Wortman, Mayor of the City of Warren. "It continues to demonstrate the community spirit that we have here in the city of Warren.”

"I carried the Seneca flag," said Brody Alexander, Boy Scout Troop 13 member.  "I have been a part of Scouts for so long, and it felt really nice to be carrying one of the flags with my fellow troop members.”

The event not only honored the rich history of the area, beginning with the Seneca Nation, but also honored a recently departed member of the Four Flags Committee, Bob Dilks.

His son Bob Dilks Jr. had the honor of giving the Address during the celebration.

"This community is emblematic of hope and optimism on its best day," stated Dilks Jr. "It’s not always there, but there is so much to celebrate and so much to be thankful for.”

With the support of multiple organizations, including the Lions Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Kiwanis Club, and Rotary Clubs; the Betsy Ross American flag, Seneca Nation flag, French Fleur-de-Lis, and the British King's Colors will remain up until the winter.
