Details are emerging about a homicide that occurred at 2 South Main Street in Russell, PA on Memorial Day.

Pennsylvania State Police have confirmed that the incident occurred Monday evening, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

“I was friends with Keith, and I went to school with him," stated David Phelps, friend of the victim. "He didn’t deserve to die, it’s just a shame.”

Police were called to South Main Street around 9:30pm on Monday, May 27th after the report of a shooting.

According to state police, Russell resident, Keith Haskins, was involved in an altercation with fellow resident, Mark Saullo.

During the altercation, the 55-year-old Haskins, was shot and passed away from his injuries at the scene.

“Keith made some mistakes in life, but he didn’t deserve to be shot,” Phelps said.

The accused, 62-year-old Mark Saullo, has since been charged with one count of criminal homicide.

Authorities are stating that there is no further concern for residents.
