Porter Halyburton was held captive in Vietnam for over 2,500 days.

His many awards include The Silver Star, The Legion of Merit, three Bronze Stars and three Purple Hearts.

He hails from Davidson, North Carolina and is a graduate of Davidson College, The University of Georgia and the Naval War College.

He retired in 1984, as a Commander in the U.S. Navy.

His latest book, Reflections on Captivity, is a collection of 50 short stories as a P.O.W. in North Vietnam and the men and women he served with. 

He currently resides with his wife Marty, in Greensboro, North Carolina.
