PennDOT to Begin Work to Create Additional Bike Lanes in the City of Erie

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is preparing to start a $372,000 project to improve the safety and accessibility for bicyclists in the City of Erie.
The project is a collaboration between PennDOT and the City of Erie. The project includes the creation of bike lanes on nearly two miles of Greengarden Rd. and Greengarden Blvd. from 12th St. to 38th St. in the city.
Work will consist of drainage upgrades and bike-safe inlet grates, line painting, sign installation and pavement markings.
According to PennDOT, work is expected to start June 10. Work is expected to be completed in September.
PennDOT said there will be limited traffic disruptions during the project, but motorists may encounter short-term lane restrictions and traffic controlled by flaggers.
More information on the project can be found on PennDOT's website.
