A 14-year-old Cochranton boy suffered serious injuries in a crash involving an ATV and tractor in Crawford County on Saturday, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

It was reported in the 29000 block of Drake Hill Rd. in Wayne Township around 5:15 p.m.

The boy was heading west on Drake Hill Rd. when he created the top of a hill and started going downhill, following a blind right-hand bend, troopers said.

The Polaris Sportsman ATV then hit the front left and rear tires of a John Deere tractor and the front left side of the equipment being towed behind the tractor, according to investigators.

It sent the ATV into a ditch and threw the boy from the ATV, which suffered heavy damage but is still functional, state police said.

The boy was flown by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown where he remains in critical condition, according to troopers who said a helmet was being used improperly.

The 57-year-old male driver of the tractor did not report any injuries, investigators said. The tractor and towed equipment suffered minor damage.
