The Nature in Your Neighborhood program is returning to Asbury Woods for its third year.

The program takes science and nature on the road to various locations each Thursday June 13 through August 15.

Representatives from Asbury Woods said the goal of the program is to ignite a curiosity about nature through engaging themes while providing a unique learning experience in an open and accessible format.

This year families can discover underwater creatures, explore parks through scavenger hunts, examine animal pelts and skulls, and unearth why trees are terrific.

Additionally, the nature center is partnering with Hooked on Books to allow each kid to take home a nature themed book each week.

“Research shows that environmental education helps build creative thinking, relationship skills, fosters leadership qualities, and makes school subjects rich and relevant. Nature in Your Neighborhood is a hands-on, fun way for kids to experience science concepts and real-life environmental examples to help influence the way youth think about the world and their connection to it. We welcome families in each neighborhood to stop in for these free programs and hope to ignite their curiosity about the natural world,” said Jennifer Farrar, Asbury Woods Executive Director.
