AHN St. Vincent kicked off Pride Month with a celebration observing the LGBTQ community in the hospital lobby on Wednesday, June 5.

The hospital featured various rainbow themed treats and banners to kick off the month long celebration. The event was put together by members of the hospital's employee-run Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council, who say it's great to have a workplace that's accepting of them.

"For people to know that we do have our DEI council, knowing that they are celebrated here," said Mel Bogardus, Employee. "It is so important especially for both our patients and our staff. As someone who's come from a different place who was not as accepting of who I was, and was not like super forthcoming with me being out, me being who I am, for me to work in an environment that is so accepting and wonderful is just so heartwarming."

The hospital lobby will feature pride displays, educational resources, and banners for the entire month of June.
