Displays of Pride-themed books have returned to Blasco Memorial Library in Erie after last year's controversy about a Pride display in the children's section.

This year, the children's Pride display is on a bookshelf in the center of the children’s library. Books about Juneteenth are also featured.

A new internal display policy “maintains several library-initiated display areas/zones that showcase the ECPL’s collections, highlight cultural, educational, and local interests and aim to further ECPL’s mission,” the policy states.

Director Jessica Stefano said the library has learned from what happened last year and is moving forward.

"We did go through some difficulties last year but like any healthy organization we've learned from difficulties in the past and we're future-focused," she said.

"As a public library, one of our core missions is to represent and provide access for all people."

There are a total of four pride displays throughout the library. Stefano said there have been no complaints about them.
