The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will be temporarily closing Sassafras Street Extension on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 11 and 12. 

The road is being closed so drainage work in connection with the Bayfront Parkway Improvement Project can be completed. 

The street will be closed between the intersection with the Bayfront Parkway and the intersection with Front Street. It will be reopened when work is not active. 

According to PennDOT, during the closures, access to the waterfront business on Sassafras Street Extension will be available through the detour posted using State Street and Front Street. 

Following the closure, drainage work will continue along Sassafras Street Extension. PennDOT said drivers may encounter lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers.
