If you have been watching progress on the field next to Dick's Sporting Goods over the past year, you don't have to wait any longer to try it for yourself.

Dozens of kids got to try the brand new turf outside on Saturday with a football clinic, led by Pittsburgh Steelers player, Jaylen Warren.

"It's not much difference from what they are learning now is what we are do in the league, you would be surprised, it's the basics that you have to look back to and perfect. Like I was saying you would rather practice one kick a thousand times rather than a thousand kicks one time", said Warren.

As Bruce Kedhart, the Store Manager for Dick's Sporting Goods explained, anyone can use the turf for free, year round. "Baseball, football, soccer, during the winter we are going to be putting a skating rink in, we will be able to have some events out here with skating and hockey and things like that too", said Kedhart.

No experience was necessary for the youth football camp, some kids are long time football fans.
A mother, Melania Crockett said, "My son loves sports, he's pretty athletic, so I feel really grateful he's able to come here for free because a lot of the camps are very expensive. I brought along six or seven of his friends and we live in the inner city and this is a good opportunity for them, as well."

Other children giving football a shot for the first time.
Nicole Hay, another mother said, "My son has never played football before, he's never played flag football and so this was a really good opportunity for him to get a crash course and see if he likes it."

Parents and store officials said it was a success to see so many people get excited about the new field especially when it comes from learning from a professional football player.

"It's just so fun to see the kids and how they interact with somebody from the Pittsburgh Steelers, it's pretty cool", said Kedhart.

The field will be open Monday through Friday 3-8 at night and then on weekends from store open until store close.
