Jefferson Defrees Family Center Hosts Touch a Truck Event in Warren County
The Jefferson Defrees Family Center kicked off the summer with their 5th annual Touch a Truck Event, inviting the community and kids of all ages to get up close and personal with all types of vehicles and work equipment.
“It’s one of those signature events that is fun to plan and fun to do," stated Melinda Johnson, Executive Director of Jefferson Defrees Family Center. "When you come out and see all the kids having so much fun and adults having a good time, it's just a lot of fun.”
“This is my first time touching a truck, because you know they are always on the road driving, so I loved it,” said Colby Roberts-Fry, Warren resident.
From police cruisers to monster trucks, many different types of vehicles were on display for children of all ages to explore.
“We had 26 different agencies, organizations, and individuals that brought us vehicles to be part of the fun today,” stated Jennifer Madigan, Childcare Director for Jefferson Defrees.
Fun that many children were eager to talk about.
Remington Vanderhoof and Olivia Allen of Warren stated that they loved the bus and were having a wonderful time, while Issac Georgakis stated, "There is always cool stuff here."
In addition to vehicles, there was live music, food trucks, and representatives from the community, like the Warren County Fair Queen and her court.
"It is always so much fun to be at events like this, and to interact with all the kids," stated Kaitlin Sleeman, Fair Queen. "It's great to be out here and to educate children about the importance of agriculture and dairy farms, which is my life's work."
Proceeds from the event benefited the Jefferson Defrees Family Center's programs and the Dolly Parton Imagination Library of Warren County.
