Harbor Creek softball is going back to the PIAA 3A State Championship game for the first time in 18 years. So, it is only right to have family and the community come out Wednesday to send them off to Penn State University.

This is the 50th season of the Huskies softball program and just the sixth state championship appearance. In 2006, Harbor Creek defeated Lakeland to win the PIAA 2A State Championship.

The girls will be the home team in their championship matchup against Juniata High School, of Mifflintown, for the 3A state championship.

Juniata comes to this game with the reigning PIAA pitcher of the year Elizabeth Gaisior.

Harbor Creek head coach Tim Caputo said she's "not just an excellent pitcher, a stud pitcher."

Gaisior became the fourth pitcher in PIAA softball history to reach 1,000 career strikeouts.

Caputo kept his message to his team short and simple: "Just relax. Just play the game that you've been taught since you were a little girl."

The first pitch is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
