A 13-year-old Amish child drowned in a Warren County pond Thursday night, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

It was reported on Huntley Rd. in Freehold Township around 8:55 p.m.

First responders were notified about a child struggling to swim, and witnesses were not able to swim out to help him, troopers said.

Troopers and the Corry Fire Department's dive team responded and found the young boy 15 feet away from the shore in 7-foot deep water, according to investigators.

The coroner pronounced the child dead at the scene about an hour later.
